Some interesting situations are going on in the Carlsborg area – from a political point of view – since Carlsborg is designated as an “urban growth area” (UGA) under the Growth Management Act (GMA). Back in the 1990s, Steve Tharinger (who since that time is a Clallam County Commissioner AND a State Representative), was instrumental in getting the designation passed. He served on the Planning Commission at the time, and though the residents were very vocal about their desire NOT to become a UGA, Tharinger pressed it forward – then later, acting as county commissioner, made sure it was passed through.
Attached is the most recent action being taken (and if you read this through, you will also see what being a UGA means to Carlsborg from a government standpoint).
